"very exciting, as a luggage problem"
So, it turns out that while US flights let you take two pieces of 50 Lbs each, the international flight only allows 20 Kg total (~44 lbs) so, I now have the task of packing up all my stuff and weighing it to see if I need to cut out my new shoes, or bite the bullet and pay extra.
I have had lots of advice about what to take on my carry-on: all ID, computer, snacks for the journey, a change of clothes (just in case) and most important of all, drugs. I have been told that nothing helps a 15hour flight more then allergy medicine. it keeps your ears from popping and helps you sleep through the long boring hours. I let you know how it goes.
I have also signed up for skype, so I can talk to you all, that is when you get skype. my name on skype is rebecca.reba.licata so you know it's me.

PS does anyone know what movie the title of this post is a quote from?

As far as carry on items, I've never used allergy meds on a long flight. I suppose if you are a poor sleeper it might come in handy, but honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The time will "fly" by rather quickly -- there are usually lots of movies to watch if you can't sleep, or you can listen to the flight attendants and their neato Australian accents -- and soon enough you will be down under. Another fyi about drugs if you decide to use them -- test them before you go. I've heard that, at least for babies, allergy meds make a few percentage hyper instead of drowsy, so make sure you don't defeat the purpose. Besides, that is what free alcohol is for. =) What airline are you flying?
