The Beach!...in the rain
Last Friday was seriously hot, we are talking at least 100 F. I got home from Uni and proceeded to sit in a chair with a fan direction pointed at me and stayed there for the rest of the evening. On Saturday I had planned to go the beach with my friend Emma. She said it was best to go late afternoon and evening to avoid the intense sun. However Saturday morning arrived with light showers and muggy weather. We went to City Beach near Freemantle. Emma said it was to cold to go in, but I could not resist the water. It was wonderful, a little cold, but the air was so humid the water felt great. I love to swim! I love the Ocean! it had been too long since I had been at the beach. I only swam for 20 mins and then I changed and we had dinner. There was several fish and chip spots and we picked one Emma said was good. The fish and chips came wrapped in butcher paper, you could get malted vinegar, but tomato sauce cost extra (!?). I also got a Chiko Roll. Now I had heard of these things but had never tried one, so I thought it was time I did. A classic beach/carnival/summer fare so I am told (although Emma had never had one). I adventurously took a bite (see last pic)...not so much...a rather ordinary doughy crust with chicken, carrot and celery inside, sort of like an egg roll filled with swanson pot pie filling. Now I have no idea if I got a good or bad specimen of this classic Aussie treat, but I will not be searching them out again any time soon. The fish and chips defiantly made up for it though and it was a nice evening.___________a few things about the pictures. the guy in the shot of the beach was ducking so I could take my photo of the building, he did not realize I was taking a wide shot. and I seem to be flipping off my friend as I display my fish and chips, sorry about that, it was not intentional I assure you.

a mix of random events
Had a fun week. A few weeks ago I met a woman at the bus stop near my house. She is in her 60s and is Persian, aka Iran, (apparently there is less stigma to the name Persian so that is how must Iranians introduce themselves). I don’t know how to spell her name but is is pronounced “ferry” or “Fairy”. She was very nice and seemed in need of a friend, she invited me to her house for coffee. Then she invited me for dinner. On Monday I went to her house and had dinner. She fed me so much! She served me salad and rice (she heaped 4 scoops on my plate) and a meat dish that reminded me of salbury steak: hamburger patties in a tomato and veg sauce. It was good, but she kept giving me more pieced of meat, then she had dessert and coffee and fruit! She is nice, but hard to understand sometimes. I hope I can be a good witness to her ______________ On Tuesday I found out that did not get my scholarship for next year (I have several ideas about how to get money for next year and will keep you posted). The funny part was that because my mailing address is my pastors house I didn’t get the letter telling me I had not gotten the scholarship until I mentioned the scholarship as a prayer request and Lorraine jumped up and said she had been meaning to give me a letter for the last two days!____________On Tuesday at bible study we found that no one had made dinner (we take turns) and so we quickly went out and got the stuff to make Chip Butties or Buddies depended on where you grew up. A chip buddy is a sandwich made with two pieces of buttered bread stuffed with French fries. You can add tomato sauce (ketchup) or BBQ sauce if you want. They are actually quite satisfying, not very healthy, but very satisfying.______________On Saturday we had a charity event called “girls night in” it is when you get together for a girls night out, and stay home and have a small party and take all the money you would have spend and give it to breast cancer research. Cool huh? We decided to invite the guys too so we had pizza and watched movies. It was fun. I made Key Lime Pie, big hit. Not much else to report, I will try to get more pics soon.

Home Again
On Saturday I returned home to my little house with the blue gate. Thank Goodness. I was getting very tired of traveling an hour every morning and every night. I have not had to commute for a good many years and now I remember why i have always made a point to live near where I work. The cats were fine, one even came in for a cuddle one day, other than that, they left me alone. My very nice housemate, Melissa, picked me up on Saturday after I had spend all of Friday night cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. I got home Friday afternoon and proceeded to eat dinner and watch Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Arch which was on TV. At about the scene where Marian is kidnapped in the basket and we think she is dead in an explosion I made myself get up and start cleaning. I was almost finished by the time the bad guys faces melted off._________working really hard at Uni. I am trying to not feel overwhelmed but to just do work everyday, it is going better.________not much happened this week or weekend, I did not sleep well at the house sitting job (which is unusual for me) so I was rather tired all week. Not up for many shenanigans. I will try to have more for you later this week.
